Audrey Bouvier's el nino

Typically I like a hat with a big fold over brim, but this year has been so warm I keep wishing my hats were lighter duty. This is also a good chance to learn to cable without a cable needle. I found a helpful youtube video for that.

Yarn: 1 ball Berroco Peruvia
Alt yarns: DROPS Alaska, Brown Sheep Lanaloft, Valley Yarns Berkshire
Needles: DPN or Circular US 6 and US 8
Gauge: 11x14 2 in (in knit purl rib)
Cast on 100 sts on US 6 needles join yarn. *knit, purl* for 12 rounds
switch to US 8 needles and knit chart (chart repeats 5 times), knit together all remaining stitches (10 sts remaining).
Finish: Cut yarn leaving an 8 inch tail, with tapestry needle run yarn through stitches and pull tight. Weave in ends inside of hat.

I wish I had youtube when I started knitting.
